#UTTERLY STUCK IN WALL INSTALL#
We want to install a drywall ceiling and then blow-in insulation above that. Currently, there is a 15' X 18' ceiling that is just exposed joists, and the garage door tracks and motor (as well as some fluorescent lights) are installed on the joists. We want to finish our garage (drywall, insulation, and carpet tiles) so we can use it as overflow living space but still have it able to function as a garage when we want to move. You can't really see anything high up in the pics I took, so I don't know what it could possibly be getting caught on.
#UTTERLY STUCK IN WALL TV#
(turns out you were right about the staple holding the TV cable too) I stuck my camera in the wall and pointed it up to try to see if there's anything it's getting caught on and I see nothing. So then I taped the end of the coax cable to it to pull it down and it's getting stuck. I then tried taping a screwdriver drill bit on a piece of string and dropped it down and it got down just fine. I tried just pushing it down again and it doesn't even get close. I'm still having problems getting my modem cable down though. So I was able to stick my hand in and pull the cable down with more force than I was able to by pulling the string and I got it. (I was planning on installing some Ethernet jacks eventually and could use the extra space anyways)
I'll just get a wider box to fill the space. I looked up the model of the plastic box to see how it attached to the wall and found it has a nail on the top and bottom ( this) I tried just cutting the plastic to remove it but I couldn't get it so I just cut about an inch of drywall on the side so that I could pull the nails out and remove it. I can't see any screws or anything that are holding it in, but it wont come out, and it would be a lot easier to pull the string and possibly see up into the wall if I could get it out.Ĭan't find the edit button, sorry if it's there and I'm just blind Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how I can fix it?Īlso I was wondering how the plastic box that the cables go into and the face plate screws to is attached to the wall. I have no idea what to do now, I can't cut open the wall or anything like that. So I tied the strings onto the TV cable and started pulling it up, and after about 6 inches it got stuck and I cant pull it anymore, so I tried to pull it back down and it wont come down either. So I got as far as getting the cable into the attic and quickly realized it's not that simple to stick the cable down and get it through the hole, so my genius idea was to tie 2 strings on to the TV cable, pull it up, then tie one of the strings to the modem cable and pull them back down. My plan was to "simply" pull the cable out of the wall, run it though a vent into the attic right next to the room I want it in, then down the wall along with my tv cable.
In the initial installation, the comcast installer just ran the cable around the outside of the house and then straight through the wall. So I decided I wanted to move my cable modem to a different room.
